[PLUGIN RELEASE] Easily Install and Update WordPress Plugins from External Servers

Hi everyone!

I’m excited to introduce a plugin I recently developed that allows you to install and update WordPress plugins directly from external servers — like GitHub or private repositories — without relying on the official WordPress infrastructure.

This plugin was born out of necessity when one of my hosting providers lost access to WordPress’ official plugin directory. If you’ve ever been in a situation where you wanted more control over how and where your plugins are sourced, this could be a game-changer for you.

Key Features:

  • Install plugins from any external server: Just provide a link to the plugin’s .zip file, and it’ll handle the rest.
  • Supports GitHub and other repositories: Perfect if you want to install plugins from mirrors or custom repositories.
  • Independent management: You can avoid being locked into a single infrastructure, making your plugin management more flexible and reliable.
  • Simple setup: All you need is the URL to the plugin’s zip file, and you can list multiple plugins, each on a new line.
  • Collections ready: Compose your own collections of plugins or use one from the community. Use it every time when you need to easily and quick install or update plugins form different servers.

Use Case:

I created this plugin specifically to solve a problem I had with hosting provider restrictions, but it can be useful for anyone looking to manage WordPress plugins more independently. For example, if you maintain custom plugins in private repositories or want to streamline updates from GitHub, this will make your life a lot easier.

Try it out:

Read the instruction from the plugin page.

Feel free to ask any questions or share feedback — I’d love to know what you think!

Please note: This is a very early version of the plugin, so there may be bugs or features that will be improved over time. I’d really appreciate any feedback or suggestions to help make it better!
